Who We Are & What We Do
Such A Nice Day (S.A.N.D.) Adventures is an outdoor adventure and education company. We operate south from Thunder Bay to the United States Border and eastward in the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area.
Each and every member of the S.A.N.D. team has grown connected with the landscape, history, and expeditioning on Lake Superior. The passion for the Lake is emanating through our team. The common theme… sharing the love. That is why we do this, because we believe that more people should get to experience a connection to the great body of water that we call home.
And… it’s the best feeling in the world. Being isolated in a place only few people have ever been. Bonding with a group of people through the learning and fun environment. Relying on your body to move you from place to place. It’s powerful and clarifying, a safe place for all.
Our mission, to provide an experience; to teach the skills to be safe on the lake; and to cultivate a connection with nature.
History
Zack Kruzins first launched SAND in June 2018. The origin of the name came from his early days working in outdoor education and yelling ‘IT’S SUCH A NICE DAY’ to wake up his groups in the morning no matter how good or bad the weather was. This phrase exemplifies Zack’s and in turn S.A.N.D.’s enthusiasm and attitude towards outdoor adventure. Every day we get to be on the water is truly such a nice day.
Present
SAND Adventures is based in Rossport Ontario as it provides access to by far the best and most protected paddling opportunities in all of the great lakes. The Rossport Islands are an amazing place and we are excited to share this wonderful place with you!
We have a good working relationship with Nestled In Nature Bnb on Nicol Island and we offer accomodation with lakeside sauna and fire pit for many of our paddling programs in Rossport.
We also do offer some programs closer the Thunder Bay and will be posted more information as these programs develop.
